Kinnari Ladha, chief data officer, IAG Loyalty

Describe your career to date

The past 20 years has been an exciting journey within the world of data and analytics. I have always been bit of a numbers geek from an early age. Fresh out of university, I began my corporate journey as a hands-on practitioner, and then over the years I have climbed the corporate ladder taking on a variety of senior leadership roles delivering and leading transformation change for customers through data driven strategies. I’ve had the pleasure of working globally across various industries, including telco, retail, automotive, insurance, media, healthcare, and travel, within both consultancy and client side.

 

Today I am the chief data officer at IAG Loyalty, a business that has grown in strength since the pandemic with an incredible profit growth of 30%. I am proud to be recognised as an industry leader and the only CDO across the IAG Group. Sitting at the board level, my role has enabled me to maximise the potential of data as a strategic asset and strengthen my professional credibility, including my strategic and commercial acumen. More importantly, it has given me the opportunity to contribute a different perspective and influence the organisation’s strategic plans, organisational culture and leadership development.

 

I am also grateful that I can use my executive role to contribute back to the data industry with my thought leadership, allowing me to drive data and analytics from the top down, while representing and championing D&I, including supporting women in tech and raising the awareness of STEM careers.

What stage has your organisation reached on its data maturity journey?

We are rapidly evolving our data maturity as part of our organisation-wide transformation. The board and business recognises the importance of data, and, with clear leadership alignment, data is fully integrated into our broader corporate strategy and therefore we have committed financial investment to strategically scale across the core areas of technology, people and process.

 

Tell us about the data and analytics resources you are responsible for

At IAG Loyalty, my team is one of the core central functions of the organisation. The team is responsible for a variety of areas, including data strategy, data management and operations, business intelligence, analytics, and data science, as well as data privacy and governance. We have a flexible hybrid working approach, colleagues are based globally across London, Madrid and India. We have recently moved away from a centralised team towards agile imbedded teams, enabling multidisciplinary data teams to work closer to the business but still retaining the benefits of belonging to core functional data team.
