Brian Erickson, chief data officer, US Coast Guard
What has been your path to power?
Erickson is the first chief data officer for the US Coast Guard and has been working to develop data as a strategic asset for the organization since taking the position in mid-2021. Over the last three decades Erickson has worked in multiple roles across the US Coast Guard including program reviewer for the office of budget and programs where he was responsible for reviewing program requests totalling $1.3 billon and involving over 14000 personnel.
Engineering has been an important part of Erickson’s career with the US Coast Guard, having held positions such as a deployable engineer, aeronautical engineer, structural engineer and being the department head for a 70-member maintenance and logistics department.
