5. Ellen Nielsen, chief data officer, Chevron

Describe your career to date

Digital and data are the threads that have run throughout my career. I began my career as an IT system engineer and over the three decades have served in global leadership roles of increasing responsibility in IT, digital and procurement/supply chain at Siemens, GE, Hewlett-Packard, Henkel and now at Chevron.

When I started at Chevron, I was the general manager for global category management in procurement/supply chain management, providing leadership to improve global sourcing strategies and supplier relationship management. In my current role, as the chief data officer, I am responsible for driving the data culture, and establishing key data capabilities to ensure Chevron businesses capitalize on the value of data and insights.

Additionally, I serve on the advisory board for Women Leaders in Data & AI (WLDA.tech) and PIDX (pidx.org). I am a change agent, a lifelong learner, and I enjoy being a part of a high performing and diverse team.
