Wade has built and led large, high-performing teams, navigated difficult people decisions, and delivered substantial business value from data, often measured in the hundreds of millions. He has\u00a0witnessed\u00a0successive waves of technology rise and fall, reinforcing a pragmatic view of innovation grounded in outcomes rather than novelty.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A defining shift in Wade\u2019s leadership has been the transition from\u00a0operating\u00a0as a data professional in support of the business to acting as a corporate executive who brings deep data\u00a0expertise\u00a0to strategic decision-making. As a data and AI leader, which traits and skills do you think matter most, and which of those have been most influential for you in your current position?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

To be effective in a modern AI world, being uncomfortable needs to be okay.\u00a0Traditional risk adverse governance or centralised everything no longer has a place. We need to be ok with letting go of control.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to be more curious and courageous than ever to deliver the business strategy in the most effective way. Making bold but educated decisions will separate good from great and create competitive advantages for your organisation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAI and\u00a0data leaders need to be ruthlessly focused on value. Creating value is the only way to become sustainable. Cost based services will always come under fire when things get tough.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLastly, having a good dose of EQ defines a great leader. Without people, you\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0deliver anything. Always strive to be the Best Place to Work.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the one non-traditional piece of advice that you would give to an AI or data leaders aspiring to get to do where you are\u00a0at the moment?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cTake time to reflect your most important decisions and communications. I try to write my most important replies to wicked problems in the afternoon or evening and not send them until the next morning.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0amazing what a good sleep and\u00a0possibly\u00a0a\u00a0glass of wine can do to calm a situation in your mind to change a narrative.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
