Attendees included numerous data leaders listed in the 2024 DataIQ 100. <\/span>The DataIQ 100 is the data industry\u2019s only curated list of influential data leaders and to be included demonstrates peer-reviewed organisational and individual achievements that provide a legacy for future talent to follow. The list identifies data\u2019s who\u2019s who, following the rise of Chief Data Officers, Chief Analytics Officers, senior data leaders, and key service providers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The roundtable discussions gave each attendee the chance to examine issues and concerns that they are interested in or facing in their own organisations, while being able to hear from others in similar situations. Topics ranged from addressing the technical skills shortage for AI, to examining the different ways that the data team should work with marketing departments. Each member was able to attend three different roundtables during the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

David Reed, Chief Knowledge Officer and Evangelist, DataIQ, was master of ceremonies and moderator for the panel discussions. <\/span>Di Black, Managing Director,<\/span> Accenture, kicked off the event by examining the evolving role of data leaders and how the recent explosion in AI and generative AI (genAI) tech has increased the pressure on data leaders to deliver more, faster. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This was followed by a panel discussion including examining the way in which data leaders can be set KPIs with no idea why or what they need support with specifically, the risk of AI value when it comes to just spending on tech and the need for growth, the way in which foundations are essential to achieving success, and more. <\/span><\/p>\n

One panel member explained how they have had more discussions with the board in the last six months of their career than the whole of their career beforehand, highlighting the shift in data value and the appreciation of data for an organisation. <\/span>The panel ended by looking at the development of proofs of concept and how genAI is not the sole solution to issues regarding end-to-end business problems, but it can be a key tool. <\/span><\/p>\n

The DataIQ 100 Discussion also took the opportunity to celebrate excellence in the industry and shine a spotlight on some of the most prestigious data leaders that are active today.<\/span><\/p>\n
