Facilitating Action

This 2 hour digital workshop will teach you how to plan for and deliver action-orientated meetings with stakeholders. It will help you understand the core characteristics of a great facilitator, how to manage productive conversations, and how to use different techniques to prime and nudge your stakeholder to take action.

Typical challenges this course will help you address include:

  • How do I balance the need to push our ideas and content and build engagement and buy-in from the audience?
  • How can I inject interactivity into my meetings to encourage debate, especially when working remotely?
  • How do I ensure that stakeholders take ownership and accountability of their actions?

Key take-outs from the training include:

The importance of understanding the story and sketching ideas before creating visuals.

  • The fact that we need to strategically drive each element of the meeting and manage their expectations around where we will get to and how we will achieve this outcome
  • The value in only using 50% of the meeting to take the audience through the content is eye opening! Sometimes I have been in meetings with too much content, leaving no room for discussion
  • The importance of incorporating different techniques into our content to encourage high quality feedback, questions & debate from everyone, including introverts
  • The value of using deliberate techniques and strategies to encourage better thinking – these tools help avoid knee-jerk reactions or snap judgements and enable broader and more perceptive viewpoints
  • The fact that we don’t need to apologise for following up on progress – if we plant the seed for following up, we will feel less like we are interfering or nagging!
