What are the judges looking for in an award-winning entry?
Our panel is made up of data and analytics industry leaders. DataIQ do not score any of the entries, so the winners are based on scoring from the judging panel only. The judging criteria for each category of award differs slightly, see specific requirements by viewing the categories page when available.

How do you judge the awards?

A set of entries is assigned to each judge to match their field of expertise. The judging process is carried out individually on a digital platform where scores from one to five are given to each entry considered. These scores are then aggregated for each entry and the entry with the highest score is selected as the winner of that award.

If there is a tie in scores, the chair of judges makes the final decision to select the winner. All categories are considered for the Grand prix, with the winner achieving the highest score overall taking the top prize.

Will our entries be judged based on grammar/spelling?
The emphasis will be on the actual story being told as opposed to the grammar/punctuation being used. Entries will not be penalised on this as we want to be as inclusive as possible. We recognise that English may not be everyone’s first language and there may be other reasons why an individual may not be able to use perfect grammar/spelling.

If a company has won the award before and gone into further development, can they enter again?
If you can show a new application or a new capability from the original tool you have built, you can stand a chance of winning again. Does it allow you to do something the business previously couldn’t do? What is the impact? You should try to bring in the commerciality and the benefits it can generate for your organisation.

Can we make joint entries as a client and a vendor?
Yes, you can! We have had these kinds of entries in the past. The key here is to work out how to frame the story between a vendor and a client. Often, an innovative product has come from a vendor or you may have relied on an external consultancy to help getting something live. It works well because it portrays that there is a wider ecosystem involved in creating some of these winning case studies.

What would be the difference between a client side and vendor side entry?
If you are working within a brand, the key focus is on the impact for that brand specifically. For vendors, it’s more about how you are driving out solutions for your client base. We would recommend that vendor entries talk a little bit more about what they achieved as a team for their client as opposed to how it drove the business.

How long does it usually take to write a case study for an entry?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide one single answer for this as it will vary amongst different individuals. We would highly recommend taking your time on it and getting various individuals to sense check the entry before submission.

How far back should an entry look as opposed to current highlights?
We are looking for what’s happened over a 12-month span. What was the most compelling thing that happened for your company and what do you want judges to be reviewing the company on up until the point of the deadline?

Will the information provided in the entry be shared publicly?

Post-event write-up and social media promotion of the winners will contain information from the award entry and attachments. If any part of your entry is confidential, please indicate this in your submission and we will ensure that those parts are not shared.
