Describe your career to date

I have over 18 years’ experience spanning leadership roles at Wellpoint, Anthem, Carelon and Elevance Health. I oversee the responsibility of carrying out the vision of Carelon Digital Platforms and bringing to life digital solutions that enhance healthcare outcomes and accelerate growth by re-imaging care delivery, operations, and consumer experience.

How are you developing the data literacy of your organization, including the skills of your data teams and of your business stakeholders?

Carelon Digital Platforms partners with Elevance Health business areas in several interactive forms that are designed to ensure that everyone speaks the same language around data and insights to drive consistency, sharing and accepted usage.

What role do you play in building and delivering conventional AI solutions, including machine learning models? Are you involved in your organization’s adoptions of generative AI?

I oversee the direction of Carelon Digital Platforms, playing the critical role of bringing digital solutions to life, utilizing the power of data analytics to uphold a digital-first approach. My influence extends across artificial intelligence (AI), exponential technology, service experience, and innovation portfolios within the company.

Heading into 2024, my team and I aim to sculpt the landscape of AI with two primary objectives. Firstly, we plan to harness the robust force of data to derive valuable insights that can benefit the product development process. Data-driven decisions and strategies will form the backbone of product innovation, enabling us to build AI solutions that not only meet current market demands but also anticipate future trends.

Secondly, I will focus on democratizing and scaling AI across the organization. This includes ensuring the ethical use of AI through the utilization of our Responsible AI program, which safeguards the system against misuse while encouraging its widespread adoption. As we push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and technology, we place equal importance on its responsible application, ultimately striving for an optimally balanced digital ecosystem.

Have you set out a vision for data? If so, what is it aiming for and does it embrace the whole organization or just the data function?

Our vision is to be the most innovative, valuable, and inclusive partner, committed to radically simplifying healthcare – and doing so with a digital-first mindset. This digital-first mindset requires securely leveraging data to derive actionable insights. Our business partners help shape strategy, participate in governance and usage decisions, and prioritize competing activities.
