Ranil Boteju, Group Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Lloyds Banking Group

I have more than 25 years’ global experience transforming businesses and creating value with data and advanced analytics. I started my career in Australia and have worked across every aspect of data and AI, having held senior data leadership roles at organisations including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Vodafone, Standard Chartered Bank, and HSBC. 

I am the Group Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Lloyds Banking Group, accountable for delivering the Bank’s data and AI strategy. We are halfway through our transformation and have built out our data and AI cloud infrastructure, successfully completed our large-scale Hadoop to Cloud Data migrations, implemented a producer consumer data ownership model, replatformed our data science stack, and established our gen AI workbench and delivered our foundational gen AI products. I am responsible for driving the bank’s Data and AI Strategy to support the “Helping Britain Prosper” mission. Additionally, I hold a Non-Executive Director role at the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office, focusing on data privacy and transparency.

My expertise lies in scaling machine learning and data services to enhance customer experience and business value. Skilled in leading cross-functional, agile teams across multiple geographies including Europe, Asia Pacific, the US, and MENA with a strong track record in data commercialisation and operational efficiency.
