My first taste of working as a kid was selling greeting cards and magazines door-to-door in my neighborhood. Our neighbors were incredibly generous because I know I was not a very good salesman. However, those lessons of making personal connections, rolling up my sleeves, and being directly connected to customer needs have stayed with me throughout my career.
My professional journey began as an engineer in the labs of Fujitsu’s hardware development. Starting at the most fundamental level of how to optimize the transmission of bits and bytes was valuable grounding. I shifted to the business side and moved to the world of strategy consulting at BCG. I worked with data in new ways but spent a lot of time ingesting the 80/20 rule and focusing on what really matters – as well as learning how to make excellent 2×2 charts.
After a tour in the startup space, I landed an opportunity at ADP. I never thought I would be working in the payroll and HR space; however, as I learned more about ADP’s data, I was drawn in. With 1.1 million clients employing over 42 million workers across the globe, I was treated to a vast trove of data providing rich insight into economy and the broader world of work.
At ADP, I have had the opportunity to build many of the data products our clients use today via the ADP Datacloud, including our Analytics and Benchmarking tools. As Chief Data Officer, I lead efforts to create market and client value from data, ensuring we maintain the highest levels of security, compliance, and ethics.
