Describe your career to date

A seasoned c-level executive with 25+ years of experience developing and leading advanced analytical teams across a variety of business areas. I have a proven track record of developing, implementing, and managing advanced technology/AI/ML projects and tools; including strong ability to partner effectively with multiple business areas and influence organizational culture. Former Disney, Comcast, and NBCUniversal. 

What stage has your organization reached on its data maturity journey?

The Yum! organization is starting to reach the late stages of its ’Sophomore’ year within the data and analytics journey. We are making amazing strides in our overall digital adoption and capabilities in ways that will enhance the experiences of our customers and team members to continue to accelerate the business. 

 

Tell us about the data and analytics resources you are responsible for

The Yum! corporate decision sciences team is approximately 150+ team members, comprised of data scientists, data engineers, dev ops, ML ops, client managers, and data analysts. The team is globally located, with a large portion working out of the Yum India technology center in New Delhi. 

What challenges do you see for data in the year ahead that will have an impact on your organization?

We are a global organization, operating in 155 different countries around the world.  We are also 98% franchised. Our challenges revolve around consistency of data collection, storage, ownership, and management. We are somewhat unique in this regard. 

 

Have you set out a vision for data? If so, what is it aiming for and does it embrace the whole organization or just the data function?

We have an overall AI/ML roadmap, within which is a data roadmap that outlines how we will procure, store, secure, provision, and provide access to our companies’ data across the globe. 

 

Have you been able to fix the data foundations of your organization, particularly with regard to data quality?

I am not sure the foundations are ever fully ’fixed’ so much as correctly architected, built, and secured and then effectively maintained. We have a strong program now in place for all four brands that is ~2.5 years old. They are continuing to grow and evolve in a high-quality way.
