Dave Warder, Head of Data Strategy and Development, The LEGO Group

For 15 years I have taken on practitioner roles covering data engineering, quantitative analysis, sports modelling, product optimisation, and data science, before moving into a leadership role. Each move was deliberate and actioned through identifying new ways to leverage data and my experience to support the organisations hit strategic goals. 

I started my journey in my comfort zone of data analytics, growing the impact of the team before building out innovative functions with other intelligence and decision teams. Moving to new opportunities, I took on responsibility for the full data value chain across six skills pillars grouped into foundations, delivery channels, and business readiness. 

At The LEGO Group, I focus on creating the conditions for everybody across the organisation to benefit from integrating data into their work and decisions. This involves creating the right upskilling and engagement experiences for both technical and non-technical colleagues, and evangelising the value delivered through data.
