David Clay, Head of CX & Channel Analytics, Barclays UK

David Clay is Head of CX and Channel Analytics at Barclays UK, where he leads analytics strategy across customer experience and distribution channels. His remit centres on translating customer insight into measurable growth, strengthening acquisition and loyalty while improving operational efficiency across the bank’s UK business. 

A proactive part of the DataIQ community, David has worked with DataIQ for training and takes part in wider industry conversations.  

David brings international experience with a career grounded in analytics, risk, and consulting. Prior to returning to Barclays, he spent four years at ASB Bank in Auckland as Head of Customer and Capability and previously as Head of Customer Outcomes. There, he focused on embedding customer-led thinking into performance management, enhancing capability, and aligning insight more closely with frontline delivery. 

As a Director in Management Consulting at KPMG, David advised financial services clients on strategy, financial modelling, and analytics-driven transformation. His work combined commercial modelling with organisational change, helping clients modernise decision-making frameworks and performance disciplines. 

David began his career at Barclays, progressing through credit risk and business banking analytics roles to become Vice President and Information Business Analytics Lead. This foundation in portfolio management and risk analytics continues to inform his pragmatic approach to customer strategy, balancing growth ambition with disciplined governance.
