Deepak Narayanam is the Group Head of Data Science and Engineering (CDO) at Access Bank, where he leads the Group’s Data and AI Strategy across its Pan-African operations and fintech subsidiaries. A visionary data leader and strategic innovator, Deepak is recognised for architecting and deploying transformative data strategies that harness analytics, machine learning, and technology to enhance customer experience, product performance, and operational excellence.
With over two decades of international experience spanning APAC, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Deepak has built and led high-performing teams across the retail and business banking sectors.
Before joining Access Bank, Deepak held senior leadership positions in global financial institutions, including in the UK, where he spent over ten years driving data science and analytics initiatives in the retail banking domain. He established data science teams and delivered large-scale projects in pricing, profitability, and customer analytics – leveraging advanced statistical techniques such as machine learning algorithms, Markov Chain modelling, Bayesian regression, and discrete choice modelling to inform commercial decisions. His pioneering work on enterprise-wide data strategy at Barclays Bank earned him a UK Data Strategy Award.
