Luca Piccolo is Data Transformation Manager at Intact Insurance, part of Intact Financial Group, where he works within the Data and AI transformation function to embed new technologies and ways of working into the fabric of the organisation. He was shortlisted, alongside his team, for New Ways of Working with Data (Europe) at the DataIQ Awards, reflecting his focus on operationalising AI at scale rather than treating it as experimentation.
With an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and close to a decade in analytics and AI enablement, Luca combines strategic oversight with deep technical grounding. He began his career in ETL and BI development and retains hands-on fluency in SQL and Python, though his current remit centres on product, programme, and operating model leadership.
Across sectors including retail, hospitality, financial services, automotive, and energy, he has led the design and build of AI-powered data products spanning marketing, production, customer service, and supply chain. His work has delivered measurable commercial outcomes, including multi-million-pound annual profit uplifts and significant reductions in data infrastructure costs through platform modernisation.
At Intact, Luca is focused on refining the Data and AI operating model, strengthening governance, and shaping the ‘front door’ for demand management to ensure clearer alignment between business priorities and technical delivery. He has led multidisciplinary teams of up to 20 specialists and managed P&L responsibilities earlier in his career, bringing financial discipline to transformation initiatives.
His approach is pragmatic: translating AI ambition into structured delivery, sustainable capability, and demonstrable value.
