Luke Gee, Chief Analytics & AI Officer, TD Bank Group

Luke Gee is Chief Analytics and AI Officer at TD Bank Group, where he leads the transformation of analytics and artificial intelligence to reshape how clients experience financial services. He brings together deep expertise in financial services, data, advanced analytics, and AI with a mission to make banking simpler, faster, and more intuitive, with a high standard for responsible and ethical AI. 

For more than 20 years, Luke has held a range of roles. He began as a business and risk analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he quickly recognized that the most effective strategies are built on precise, well-governed data aligned to both client and business needs. As his responsibilities expanded, he immersed himself in the commercial side, focusing on marketing and analytics for client products. This experience shaped a guiding philosophy: use data to surface genuine client needs, remove friction across the customer journey, and simplify banking at every step. 

At TD, that philosophy has translated into measurable impacts. Under Luke’s leadership, the bank delivered 75 new AI use cases in 2025, generating approximately $170 million in value. He introduced TD AI Prism, a proprietary predictive foundation model, and expanded TD’s knowledge management platforms across seven business lines, enabling more than 10,000 colleagues with insights that elevate client service. He also extended TD’s AI footprint to New York City and established a strategic collaboration with MIT’s sAIpien program, strengthening the link between academic research, industry innovation, and societal benefit. 

 

As a data and AI leader, which traits and skills do you think matter most, and which of those have been most influential for you in your current position? 

“Consistently delivering high-quality results with unwavering passion. Consistency ensures that teams can rely on each other, that data integrity is sound, and that clients can rely on us to deliver, even as technologies and challenges evolve. 

“Passion fuels the energy and curiosity needed to stay ahead in a rapidly changing field, driving innovation and inspiring teams to push boundaries. Developing a groundbreaking AI model means failing before you succeed. The combination of passion in the mission and the consistency in the process is what helps you get to that point of success, and you need a team of like-minded people to get there. 

“Leadership is what you do in your daily work, and by acting with passion and consistency our team is an industry leader in data and AI. This is how you can build culture and trust that focuses on what matters, building value for clients and colleagues.” 

 

Reflecting on your career, what is one non-traditional piece of advice (outside of technical skills) you would give to an aspiring data or AI leader aiming for the C-suite? 

“Prioritize people above all else; both your team and your clients. Success in this field isn’t just about mastering technology; it’s about understanding the unique needs and aspirations of the people you serve. Take time to listen and truly grasp the client’s evolving challenges and goals. Leadership means being trusted, distinctive, steady, and remarkably human. 

“This is an ongoing task and it needs to be part of the way you do business daily. Approach each interaction with empathy and focus on building relationships grounded in trust and respect. Serving clients with genuine care and consistently executing with excellence creates a culture colleagues can buy into and feel motivated to bring their best selves to work. This approach brings humanity and authenticity to data and AI; clients are looking for this and will appreciate that difference you provide.”
