Martin Newman is Head of Product Engineering at Vodafone, where he has spent nearly 15 years building and scaling data and analytics capability across one of the world’s most complex telecoms organisations. A seasoned data and analytics leader, Martin has played a central role in driving Vodafone’s digital agenda through the design and deployment of high-impact data products, advanced analytics, machine learning and AI solutions that deliver measurable business value.
Since 2022, Martin has led cross-functional initiatives across Vodafone’s Data and Analytics function, combining technical innovation with operational discipline to deliver scalable platforms and applications that improve efficiency, unlock new innovation, and reduce total cost of ownership. His work has consistently demonstrated strong commercial outcomes, including delivering more than a fivefold return on investment through digital applications and analytics-driven transformation.
Previously, as Head of Data Products, Martin led teams of product managers, data scientists and visualisation engineers, rolling out scaled digital applications across Vodafone’s market footprint and delivering over £15 million in benefits. As Head of Data Visualisation and Analytics, he oversaw a global team of more than 80 specialists and introduced AI-enabled systems to improve financial forecasting, while also pioneering new approaches to staff engagement and recognition.
Known for his clarity of communication and ability to influence at C-suite level, Martin is also a committed coach and mentor. He has championed development and skills growth, helping a culture of continuous learning and high performance across the DataIQ community.
