Building AI Governance on Existing Data Governance

3:00pm - 4:00pm

Many large organisations are building AI governance on top of established data governance rather than starting again. This session will explore which governance foundations can be reused, where AI introduces different risks and controls, how accountability should be shared between central teams and the business, and how organisations can create a proportionate route from initial idea through assessment, development and approval without unnecessarily slowing experimentation.

Discussion questions

  • How are organizations transitioning from fragmented, function-specific governance processes to an integrated AI governance operating model that leverages existing data governance structures and controls while addressing AI-specific risks?
  • How are organizations establishing clear ownership, accountability, and oversight across AI, data governance, privacy, compliance, information security, and business functions without crating duplicate processes or governance gaps?
  • How are organizations establishing a single source of truth for AI systems, use cases, risk assessments, approvals, and ongoing monitoring when information and responsibilities are distributed across multiple enterprise systems and teams?

Who should attend

This session is designed for senior data and AI leaders who:

  • Have experience establishing AI governance alongside an existing data governance model.
  • Work in large organisations where responsibilities are distributed across business teams or functions.
