Payment acceptance optimisation (PAO) provides data-led consultancy and solutions to large corporate clients aimed at fraud detection and decline minimisation. By leveraging the Hadoop platform and transactional datasets to gain insights into transaction routing journeys, Matt is able to provide actionable intelligence that drives recommendations for operational changes or enhancements. These insights have also been used to shape internal product requirements and to build out the product roadmap.
Matt is embedded in a cross-bank virtual project team where the quality of his work, communication and interaction with senior stakeholders has received high praise. Alongside PAO, he has developed the targeting strategy for cross-sell campaigns by identifying groups with a high propensity to take up new products and services. He has developed a new small business customer segmentation strategy and carried out a deep dive into customer defection which has turned into an early-warning system for proactive win-back communications.
Across these projects, he has built technical skills in Hadoop, SQL, SAS and Python, as well as his understanding of the business and the practical application of analytics. Matt has continued to build his knowledge of statistical techniques, AB testing, anomaly detection, clustering and machine learning.
Outside of his day job, Matt has supported the ONS in an examination of the night-time economy, represented Barclays at jobs fairs, and even been introduced to the Lord Mayor of London. He is identified as well on the way to becoming a high-performance analyst.
