Since launching, the solution has enabled more than £130 million in cash savings for the business by providing complex data insights into cars that had not yet been built. Using distributed computing deterministically to build key data for millions of vehicles, the vehicle simulator answers critical questions in just three hours for a process that used to take eight months.

The construction of a vehicle is complex, involving thousands of individual parts that are sourced from an international market, therefore, the industry historically has made decisions based on averages and assumptions, without understanding the underlying data affecting averages. With the onset of strict regulation and the need for precision, the development of the vehicle simulator has enabled business leaders and engineers to make informed decisions to ensure compliance and efficiency.

The Jaguar Land Rover team has generated data that is used in 16 use cases across five functions and the implementation of the vehicle simulator solution has data being refreshed over the top 20 markets, equating to 1.8 million cars and generating over 8,000,000,000 rows of data per day.

Vehicle simulator data is used in various analytics dashboards around the business, such as by vehicle line directors utilising dashboards powered by the solution to inform decisions on current car line performance. It is estimated that there are over 400 users of this specific data across the organisation and the aim is to make vehicle simulator the pinnacle of data quality and accessibility for the automotive industry.
