With a crowd-sourced submission that highlighted a lot of excitement and passion, cinch cars demonstrated company-wide collaboration and excitement for explaining why this is the best place to work in data. Even though cinch is just 30 months old as a business, most hires have been active in the company for two years due to the benefits, quality of working culture and prospects of career development, highlighting a stellar retention rate and employee satisfaction surveys hitting over 90% positive feedback. In this short period of time, the data department grew to 28 members covering six disciplines and has rapidly accelerated the business growth trajectory of the organisation.
“The team is clearly highly motivated and very hard working.” – Judges’ comment
In just three years, cinch decision intelligence grew from its launch to become a 28-member strong data-driven team comprised of six disciplines: data engineering, data science, analysis and insight, business intelligence and performance reporting, digital analytics and conversion rate optimisation and delivery.
To help the cinch team continuously improving their knowledge, cinch offers a learning and development culture with dedicated time, resources to support learning and development (including a budget for bespoke training and a training partner for generalist courses) and spaces for individuals to talk and learn more about their work. The spaces include an internal blog, lunchtime lightning talks, mentorship opportunities, informal Teams channels and bi-weekly showcases into how teams have resolved issues to share success learnings.
There is a strong culture of challenging upwards in cinch cars, which is supplemented by multiple mentoring opportunities from internal teams and senior members of the organisation. This allows individuals to focus in on the career path they wish to pursue and supports them in their decisions to specialise in certain areas, which in turn improves employee wellbeing and strengthens retention rates.
Finally, the creation of the colleague experience group (CEG) by cinch cars – a collection of employees representing every tribe and discipline across cinch – collects one-on-one feedback from peers and relays it to the senior leadership team in a thorough, constructive and anonymous manner to protect individuals, reduce backlash and improve the workplace.
