Narayanan became chief data officer at Anglo American at the very start of 2018 and since taking the position he has been responsible for implementing new data strategies as well as leading all digital transformation and building a new data analytics platform. The focus of Narayanan’s work has been around worker safety, sustainability and developing business flexibility within the mining industry.
Before joining Anglo American, Narayanan spent 21 years at energy business Schlumberger where he became vice president, data and analytics and was responsible for the implementation of cloud solutions and new analytic approaches. He was also product owner for the industry’s first data lake encompassing exploration, development and production.
