Christopher Hansen, Director of Data Science, Spotify

What has been your path to power? 

Hansen joined Spotify five years ago, initially as director, ads, marketing and marketing analytics. As part of a global data science team of 30-plus, they had a focus on leading sustainable growth by promoting data-informed financial decision-making across businesses through unbiased, actionable insights and solutions. 

He then became director of data science with a mission to empower finance with advanced predictive modeling capabilities and insights to power next-gen financial decision support for Spotify. This includes forecasting KPIs at scale, user lifetime value modeling, anomaly detection and metrics monitoring, initiative attribution, and what-if analysis and simulations.

 

His department is also focused on building products to enable non-technical stakeholders to interact with these predictive models, breaking down technical barriers and empowering financial analysts to engage in data-driven financial decision support without the need of a data scientist or engineer.
