I graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Chicago and ended up with a job at a medium-sized consultancy, building models in SAS. I then hopped through smaller and smaller consultancies every few years for about a decade, doing predictive data science for clients including various government agencies, a major telecommunications company, and a hospitality and casino corporation.
I ended up at AARP, starting as more or less the entire modeling team and worked my way to my current position leading the data science team, picking up a master’s in applied economics from Johns Hopkins. Our team runs the gamut of data science, from reporting to AI modeling, and we support the whole organization, meaning we get to see the breadth of AARP’s efforts, working with dozens of groups who do all sorts of neat things to support the mission.
