The role of data in driving growth and organisational strategy is clear. Businesses that aren’t already data-driven know that they need to get to that point to remain competitive. However, as data’s role grows so too does the need to ensure that the organisation is poised to use it efficiently.

In May and June 2021, DataIQ surveyed our panel of 101 end-user practitioners in data and analytics. As we discovered in the report, “Making every data minute count”, produced in partnership with Multiverse, one in every 11 minutes of company time in the UK is spent attempting data tasks unproductively. This adds up, with 8.5% of annual revenue lost on average as a result of poor data literacy.

Identifying and raising the level of data literacy throughout an organisation is a complex task, involving research, training, development and monitoring. As our research revealed, robust data literacy is essential for organisations looking to save time and money while making the most of the digital revolution.
