Diversity is essential for a well-rounded, functioning data office and implementing a recruitment approach that understands intersectional diversity is the way forward. Research indicates that highly diverse teams produce better results with reduced algorithmic bias, which is a necessity for organisations aiming to be leaders in their field.

This report examines the ways that gender, disability and ethnicity inequalities exist in data offices and what can be done to bridge the gap between representation at different levels and pay discrepancies. In addition to this, there is an imbalance with the national average in the UK between the percentages of people that attend private schools and those who work in data, meaning businesses are reducing the scope of talent available.
