There are seldom monumental shifts in working operations, but we are potentially experiencing one right now with the rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT. The ways in which these tools can be implemented for businesses, governments, scientists, individuals and more is poised to be revolutionary, but there is a lot to consider and examine. The attention of everyone from decision makers to new team members have been grabbed by the excitement and potential being touted by generative AI tools. Could this be the hottest thing humans have played with since the discovery of fire? Or could it fizzle out and be the latest addition to the tech graveyard?
The DataIQ community came together over the course of three roundtables to discuss the development and application of generative AI tools and their thoughts around the topic. Some members have embraced the tools and have immediately started conducting experiments to see how their operations and objectives can be influenced. Others, however, have implemented a sweeping ban on generative AI tools until a series of guidelines can be created and more is known about the ways in which the tools work. One thing is for certain though – there is a palpable excitement and intrigue in the DataIQ community for what could be the next era of data and analytics.
